Raising the Truth

Doug Phillips, president of Vision Forum and Pete DeRosa president of Creation Expeditions made and released a film, “Raising the Allosaur” together in 2002 which was pulled from the market October of 2004. This film and the actions of these men make this site necessary.

WE HAVE ADDED MULTIPLE VIDEO INTERVIEWS WITH MEMBERS OF TAYLOR’S DIG TEAM AND OTHERS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE SEPTEMBER 2001 AND MAY 2002 ALLOSAUR EXCAVATION. WE WILL BE ADDING MORE TESTIMONY AS WELL AS OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS DEBACLE. The efforts of Phillips/DeRosa have been directed at preventing Joe Taylor from speaking the truth that it was Dana Forbes, landowner who discovered the allosaur and Joe Taylor and his Mt Blanco Fossil Dig Team that “Raised” it. They have in fact left themselves free to perpetuate the claims that harmed Joe Taylor and others in the first place.

To help illustrate this point I would like to share a precedent setting and important story from the pages of history that I believe is pertinent to this website.

In Colonial New York in 1733, German immigrant John Peter Zenger had the opportunity to print America’s first party newspaper, the New York Weekly Journal. Zenger did quite well until he exposed some dirty dealing of the then Govenor of New York, William Cosby. Cosby citing libel and slander, and using his attorney general and a hand picked judge had Zenger jailed for his articles exposing the Governors actions. It seemed that the Governor had taken from the public treasury to purchase fine race horses for himself. In defense of Zenger, James Alexander and William Smith, objected to Cosby’s heavy handed treatment of Zenger. For that defense they were disbarred.

Through the disbarred attorneys Zenger was able to obtain the services of Retired Attorney Andrew Hamilton. Because Andrew Hamilton was license to try cases by the Royal Court he was not subject to disbarment in the Colonies. Andrew Hamilton won that case for Zenger. He won it even though he was not allowed to try the case on the facts. Cosby’s Attorney General and Judge would not allow any facts of the case to be discussed. To them it did not matter if the charges were true or not. It was simply the fact that Zenger had the hutzpa to print something negative about the Governor.

One of the notable elements of this case is that Hamilton challenged the legality of the law rather than the innocence of his client. Slander and libel law at the time prevented any criticism of public officials. Using the Bible Hamilton drew attention to the castigation of Israels Leaders by the Prophets. There was no shortage of examples in the Bible of public officials misdeeds being brought to light. The Jury got Hamilton’s point that the prophets warnings to Israel’s people would have been illegal under New York’s then law.
Andrew Hamilton’s victory was a victory for the future country of America. It established a basis for our definition of Libel and Slander. These are terms that public persons are ever trying to redifine to get rid of scrutiny and criticism.
At the end of the trial on August 5th, 1735, and despite the Governor’s hand-picked judges presiding, the twelve New York jurors returned a verdict of (not guilty) on the charge of publishing “seditious libels,”.
Hamilton had successfully argued that Zenger’s articles were not libelous because they were based on FACT.

To the point. Lying is of course against the law of God. Is it against our civil law? It used to be. It certainly can be litigated against when one has the money to do so. Vision Forum’s film jacket and promotions of Raising the Allosaur in fact gave credit for the excavation to others. Its subject was not fabricated things that did not happen. There really was an Allosaur discovered, but it was found by Dana Forbes not Mark DeRosa. There really was an Allosaur excavated but it was excavated by Joe’s dig team not Doug Phillips tour group. Doug’s tour group did move a lot of dirt in the early part of May 2002 and can certainly be said to have participated in that way.

This website tells the story of a dinosaur dig conducted in September 2001 and May 2002 wherein a rare Allosaur was excavated by a joint effort between a group of home schoolers and a professional excavation team.

Vision Forum in 2002 released a video titled Raising the Allosaur.

Contained herein is the story of that dinosaur dig including the testimonies and firsthand accounts of many of the people involved in the dig - testimonies that have never been told, bolstered by picture and video evidence that has never been seen.

Credit will be given in all cases where credit is due and every effort will be made to be fair and balanced.
